In Bangalore, Modi targeted former UIDAI chief Nandan Nilekani, without naming him, for the Aadhaar card scheme. Nilekani is the Congress candidate from Bangalore South. Modi questioned the wisdom of spending crores on Aadhaar without addressing issues of national and border security he had raised in the past on Aadhaar and which were not answered by central government officials. Modi said, “They have a person who has 1000 crore but no Aadhaar. They made him candidate. He must answer what has been done with hundreds of crores of rupees meant for Aadhaar card. In the end the Supreme Court had to intervene.’’ “At the National Security Council meeting, I asked the Prime Minister to study questions I raised on Aadhaar. I said the scheme would not work if questions are not addressed,’’ he claimed. Modi also campaigned for his biographer Pratap Simha making his political debut as Mysore Lok Sabha candidate. Addressing rural population in Koppal and Bagalkot districts he said MNREGS had served to “fill the pocket of Congress.” Modi said, “Has RTI given you something to eat? The black money stashed away, has it come back? In 2G scam, crores of rupees have been gobbled up. Has that booty come back?’’ Kasargode: Claiming that the Congress had failed to curb terrorism contrary to its promise made in earlier manifestos, Narendra Modi Tuesday called the latest Congress poll manifesto a “paper of betrayal”. Addressing a rally here, Modi said, “In 2004 and 2009, Congress promised to fight terrorism. But the party did not take strong action against terrorism. To what extent you (Congress) were sincere about promises in the manifesto? In 2004 and 2009, your manifesto promised to strengthen the defence forces, but do security forces in the country have enough equipment?’’ Taking on Defence Minister A K Antony, who is leading the Congress campaign in Kerala, Modi said, “Antony, do you know 97 per cent of weapons and planes with the Air Force are outdated?” He said Antony should explain how the coastline would be safeguarded when submarines are lost in accidents and the Navy chief has himself quit office. “What explanation can Antony give for the huge loss from the naval tragedies?”

BJP attacks Aadhar scheme for not having Parliament sanction PTI Oct 22, 2013, 03.16PM IST Tags: Unique Identification Authority of India|UIDAI|Supreme Court|Smriti Irani|National Identification Authority of India Bill|Nandan Nilekani (The UIDAI, which has run…) NEW DELHI: The UIDAI, which has run into controversies recently, came under fresh attack with the BJP alleging that the Aadhar card issued by it to citizens as a unique identification does not have Parliament's approval and has been rejected by one of the key committees of the House. "The reality is that the National Identification Authority of India Bill, 2010, which gives sanction to this particular card was rejected by the standing committee on Finance," BJP Vice President Smriti Irani said, alleging that the programme violates the constitutional right to privacy. She was speaking at a programme on Aadhar here. "The reality is striking for me as an Indian that a concept which does not have the sanction of Parliament today is collecting bio-metric data which violates the constitutional right to privacy," she said. BJP has questioned the Aadhar scheme and argued that it should not be given to those who do not have bona fide papers and citizenship. It has alleged that several illegal migrants have got Aadhar cards. "While the Aadhar card is one of the most ambitious projects that the government speaks about, the reality is that they are awaiting a Supreme Court decision regarding this," Irani said. She went on to add that governance was not only about 'what' but also about 'how'. The BJP leader said that while the country celebrates the rising level of literacy, the reality is that the latest figures reveals that 50 per cent of our children -- boys and girls-- drop out of school at the secondary level. "In rural areas, only six per cent are graduates and in urban areas, it is only 22 per cent and I say this today because for a nation's journey to be fruitful one can determine the milestones when one totally accepts the stark reality and challenges that are before us today," she added. Speaking at the same programme earlier, UIDAI Chairman Nandan Nilekani had said the authority will beat the target of generating 60 crore Aadhaar numbers before schedule in the next few months. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Chairman said 46 crore Aadhar numbers have been given so far. "By 2014, there was a target to generate 60 crore aadhar numbers. We will beat this before schedule in next few months. So far 46 crore Aadhar numbers have been given. In September we added 2.5 crore Aadhar numbers," Nilekani said.

xi Introduction Both juicy and exceedingly dry, sensitive and cynical, ahead of its time and appallingly retrograde, the Kamasutra is the most famous guide to sensual pleasure ever written—indeed, one of the most notorious books in the history of the world. Its acute insights into human nature are still relevant today. While previous publishers typically either stole the word “Kamasutra” and slapped it on a book of modern photographs, or neglected to include the original Sanskrit, or reprinted an old, faulty translation (or introduced a new, faulty translation), or included reproductions of miniatures made more than a millennium after the text was composed, YogaVidya.com and I have labored mightily to create a proper edition. It includes the original Sanskrit typeset in Devanagari, a new, accurate and readable English translation, and illustrations using period clothing, jewelry, and settings that actually correspond to what is described in the text. Composed in northern India in the third or fourth century ce at the beginning of the Gupta Empire, the apex of India’s classical civilization, the Kamasutra is the oldest existing Indian text about pleasure. It was a handbook for the urbane man of culture, courtesans, and upper-class women. Painting a vivid picture of life in India, its ideas permeated classical literature. It is a digest of several older works, which in turn were said to draw from a large work by an attendant of the god Shiva, implying a divine origin.

Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) Narendranath Datta was born on July 12, 1863 in Calcutta, India. His father was Vishwanath Datta, who was an attorney in the Calcutta High Court, while his mother Bhuwaneshwari Devi, was an intelligent and pious woman. His biographers tend to portray him in superlatives; according to these accounts, his early education began from home and had him learning Bengali, English and Sanskrit before he joined the Metropolitan Institution at the age of 7 (Arora 2). There he began to develop into a genius while still finding time to pursue other hobbies such as rowing, swimming and classical Indian music (Sil 29). As he grew so did his exceptional thirst for knowledge and it propelled him to the post-secondary institutions of Presidency College and the General Assembly’s Institution, where he originally had his sights set on becoming a barrister (Gokhale 36). But in 1881 Naren’s life would change forever as he joined the Brahmo Samaj Society and met Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. The Brahmo Samaj was a movement of universalism that supported the religion of humanity and attempted to synthesize ideas from the East and West. It also protested against aspects within Hinduism, such as the caste system, polytheism and idol worship (Arora 4). Once a part of this group Naren met Ramakrishna for the first time where they began a close relationship. Naren became Ramakrishna’s favourite disciple which drew him into a world of religion as opposed to a world of law. This movement into religious thought had Naren by Ramakrishna’s side until his death in 1886, where he then took it upon himself to act in the name of the late Ramakrishna and spread his philosophies to a wider audience (Schneiderman 64). This was a challenging task considering just two years prior Naren’s father died suddenly of heart disease and left the family in extreme debt (Arora 6). But Naren progressed.
